The carnivalistic exuberance of the tools looks like their creator. Noora Schroderus is technically skilled and meticulous, and that is an indispensable quality in this art form. Why tools? Just because of their shape or because of they happen to be in the workshop, as pop-art style inspiration. The tools have thus created an ordinary still life for the artist. The tools and their sensual colours, in addition to their softness, give me a new perspective. In the past, such tools were reserved exclusively for men's work or hobbies. Now many women use them as confidently as their lipsticks or eyeshadows. (text: Hannu Castrén)
